The better place for this would have been the 'Off Topic' but anyway. I'm a little sceptical on this. I'm not saying it isn't possible but there are things that could have caused this, like them replacing the battery with a lower quality one for example. It's happened in the past. So I'll keep an open mind but I find the claims highly questionable.

Probably due to a bad 3rd party battery or he might have got his device repaired in unauthorized center (Remember iPhone 4/4S catching fire ? That dude got that phone repaired from some cheap shop and those guys misplaced a screw inside)
