As the name suggests, Weather Station is an app which provides users with access to a network of more than 50,000 weather stations in more than 100 countries across the world.

All weather conditions are updated in real time and provides users with information including temperature, wind speed, wind direction, humidity, precipitation and many more.

More importantly, most weather apps only provide users with a blanket weather condition for a particular city, for example New York. What Weather Station does differently however is to provide users with data specific to a particular area that they are in, for example New York City (East Village). Given the size of New York, we all know that it could be rainy at one end of the city while being bright and sunny on the other. Hence the Weather Station provides users with the accuracy they would not otherwise get, and more importantly reducing the possibility of getting caught in the rain!

Future updates planned for the current version will include weather forecasts and ability for users to tell where the nearest weather stations are. Weather Station is currently free for download. Users will be given a 3 days trial period before receiving an option to purchase for USD 0.99. A definite bargain for the functionalities and convenience it brings.

Weather Station was created by Mr. Nikola Stepan, who also develops mobile apps for iOS and the Windows Phone. His reason of choice to develop for the Windows 8 platform was because Windows is the leading OS for desktop computing and he believes it will continue to prosper. Mr. Stepan is currently working on a new app called Calcsharp which evaluates mathematical expressions step by step. He is unable to share more about it at the current juncture, but if the quality is as anywhere as good as the Weather Station, we will definitely be waiting for it great anticipation.

Lastly, it is also interesting to note that Weather Station is currently using a 3rd party commerce platform, Lotaris in-appCommerce to power the business models and payments of Weather Station on the Windows Store.

When asked, Mr. Stepan mentioned that Lotaris in-appCommerce provides him with the best financial deal and also some marketing/promotions of his app which he believes will increase his monetization abilities moving forward.
