Ray is the developer of Pocket File Manager, the best file manager in Windows Phone 8.
Even with all the API restrictons of WP8 he did a terrific job, giving to us a file manager, the best.

We must support other developers, every idea is wellcome.

I myself is a paid user of pocket file manager. I highly respect Ray's work.

Subtitles encoding is coming in the next update. In the meantime, our users found a workaround. Open the subtitles file with notepad, save as and change charset from "ANSI" to "UFC-8". Upload subtitles file to your phone. MoliPlayer pro should be able to display the correct subtitles.

Heads-up! MoliPlayer Pro will be updated to version 1.1.0.4 on Nov. 22. Here are some of the improvements:

Added significant improvements on 1080P MKV playback
Added pass-code protection at app startup.
Added an option to disable adding playback history to MediaHub
Fixed the embedded subtitles issue with MKV
Fixed the charset setting for a variety of charsets
Added FF/REW by gesture
Added support for more languages, including French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, and Turkish.
Added Better organization of videos & audio files in separate folders.
Added Deleting files in camera roll and/or SD card
Added Pickup videos in folders created in camera roll and/or SD card

No, it is not a wp limitation. Rather, background playback of flac and ape music will be available in the next update due out in a couple of weeks.
