I started working on a Sonos controller for Windows Phone towards the end of September hoping to rival Phonos the current Sonos app of choice! The news that Sonos reportedly have an official app in testing was a bit of a blow (although great for the WP community) but I decided to keep going with this project as it was very close to completion.
Last Sunday, Chirp was released to the store. Chirp lets you can control playback, manage your queue and play music from your favourites, playlists, shared music folders and Rdio. It has a fully functioning and unlimited trial with some annoying reminders to purchase - and can be bought for just 1.49/$1.99.
Chirp doesn't have as many features as Phonos or even support as many music services, but I believe it has a nicer user interface. It's also very quick and efficient.
I'm hoping to release further updates in the next couple of weeks with infinite scrolling and support for more music services.
I have included some screen shots below. Unfortunately I haven't posted enough to be able to provide you with a link to the store, but if you search for 'Chirp' you'll find it!
Wow, good job! Feel much more responsive and quicker than Phonos. And I like the UI better! Have to try it out a bit more, though. The rest of the family is sleeping so it's not the best time to play a lot of music :)
Great implementation. I really like the images of the Sonos devices beside each zone.
Prefer this UI as well.
Will you be ready for Windows 10?
I will spread the word at work where we have a few colleagues on windows phones. :)
My Lumia 640 Dual-Sim (non LTE) is not able to find my Sonos speaker (also with Phonos). On the Lumia 830 and the Samsung Ativ S it works fine. Any idea?
