Square for WP8?

Credit card readers on mobile devices are really important to many small-business owners.
Anyone know if MS is working w/ Square and/or PayPal-Here to get this going?

I've seen petitions asking for them to make a WP8 app, so maybe that will help.

response i just got from square:
We currently only support Apple iOS and Android platforms. We don’t have any plans to support Windows mobile devices at this time. Should this change in the future, we’ll be sure to announce it. There was another thread about this. I did the same thing and contacted square. Got a different answer. They said they will forward my request to the mobile app department.

Agreed. I just tweeted them. We should all just tweet the hell out of them.

sometimes a twitter barrage can make them pay attention...

but with barely 5% market share, it can be hard for a company to devote resources to making an app.

I don't use twitter. I just want to be able to swipe cards with my phone. I actually would prefer PayPal here.

I know the market share of Windows is low but the latest I read is Apple went from 17% to 13% and Windows went from 3% to 4%--guess who the winner is. Yah Android.

And think of all the work they must do to make that work. Look at the list of Android devices that have some 'know issue' with Square also. So many flavors.

But, I have played around with WP8 programming and it is so simple--they really should have no reason to not do this. I bet it would be pretty easy for them to get an app out there for WP8.

I'm not familiar with the WP8 API, but is it even possible to write an app that will support an external peripheral like the Square reader? I see that this device plugs into the 3.5mm jack on most phones. Can this be done with WP8 at all?
