WP Central app killing battery

Hi all,
So I updated to the paid version of the app but having it run in the background for live tile updates is killing my battery at the rate of about 10% every 30-40 mins. Running on a Lumia 800 still on 7.5. Is this normal for this app?

Wpcentral app kicks the shjt out of my battery, so ya I would say that is normal.

Basically, based on my observations, live tiles are sucking out the battery by keeping the WP8 processes active. When unable to connect to their respective servers, these just juice out the battery

And to top it off the tile has just turned into a black square. The free version was good, the paid one nothing but trouble?
