For those of you looking for a powerful Bible app the good news is that Laridian has finally released their Pocket Bible app for Windows Phone. It became available today!

PocketBible | Windows Phone Apps+Games Store (United States)

Laridian has long been making bible apps for PDA's and mobile phones, including Windows Mobile in the past. In recent years they have focused their attention on iOS and Android, but finally have recognized the need to support Windows Phone. (A Windows 8/RT version is also under development).

What makes Pocket Bible unique is that it taps into a full range of bibles, study notes, commentaries, resources, and other books that you can download and use offline. Some of the standard public domain books (e.g. King James Version bible) are free, but most of the others can be purchased for a reasonable price. In fact, if you've used Pocket Bible on a previous device and purchased books, those same books can be re-loaded to your Windows Phone version at no extra charge. The app itself has very powerful navigation features, and incorporates a number of useful features. While the app is free, it is possible to unlock some advanced features for a nominal fee.

Up to this point the YouVersion Bible has been the standard on Windows Phone, and is still a worthy download if you are doing basic reading, etc. Of course, with YouVersion you need an Internet connection at all times. But, if you are looking for a faster, more powerful app that works without a live Internet connection, Pocket Bible is the way to go. It especially is geared to those wanting to do more in depth Bible study on a smartphone.

NOTE: I am not affiliated with Laridian, but was fortunate to have been part of the beta testing for this version of Pocket Bible.
