Eh, get the app out first so that when someone goes to check a phone out at the store the salesperson can say, "Why yes, you can have Instagram!" It's probably the right move going into the holiday season.

It is out now, huh. I downloaded it. It looks like the Instagram app, but bigger on my 920. It does have in-app image capture, but no video. Which is fine for me, I prefer Instagram as picture only. But I get that's a big feature for people and hopefully it'll come along soon. Given that they're calling it "Instagram BETA", I'm sure it will.

So far, I like it. I recommend everyone using 6tag download the official app as well, if for no other reason than to show Instagram they're doing the right thing and that there is an opportunity on Windows Phone for them and other developers.

Ye gads, easy there. Chill your jets. Yes, it's beta. I'd rather have them open the beta for real users than keep it closed and wind up with a half-baked final release.

Wow, I was looking forward to this official version, but 6tag completely owns it from the UI perspective.

I also freaking LOVE that if you download a pic on 6tag and you go into your gallery, under that pic, there's an "Open with 6tag" link and it opens the entire post. Amazing. Love it for food-porn and recipes.

So I bit and downloaded it. No picture taking on my 521 for me, but I downloaded it so they know that there is actually a market here. Still going to use 6tag as my main client though.

But hey, its a start. Maybe they'll roll out some updates in the next few days?

Yeah, 6tag is still the Instagram champion. Even so, in just over a year Instagram went from "we have absolutely no plans for a Windows Phone app" to "hey, here's the Instagram BETA for Windows Phone". I think that's pretty awesome.

really this is like a slap in the face. one would assume that they were working on it before it was announced that it was coming. But now...based on it having a 0.1.0 version number, it really is like they hired an intern to do this in his spare time between coffee runs.

What's the point whinning about it? New users want to know that Instagram is on WP. Yes it is.

*I* use iOS Instagram. So does my buddy sitting in the cube behind me, right now. We're both fine with the new app. It's lacking video, but I only use Instagram for photos anyway. Using the built-in camera app is seamless. It's... really not as big of a deal as you're making it out to be.

Personally... I think you just like to be the center of your own internet drama. "OMG! MVNOs! OMG INSTAGRAM BETA! OMGGGGGGGG!"

I LOVED the ui, pretty nice and polished, the app itself is VERY fast as well.. only when you press the ''camera'' icon needs to be faster, but on the rest, waiting for other features (such as tagging people) then I'll delete 6tag, which is a great app, but instagram official app is even smoother while scrolling..

I really liked the official client. It doesn't matter if it lacks of video upload it's just awesome! I love the UI it's really fast and it consumes less data as well.

Anyway. The official app isn't so bad. Its definitely a great starting point, and now hopefully WP will get more love. I'm pretty impressed with my little 521, I think I might be a convert now!
