Audible: Text messages caused book to stop playing and does not resume

The Audible app has an issue that I have found a workaround for, but a fix is seriously needed.

When listening to an audiobook, pause and play works just fine.
When text message comes in and is read (Bluetooth) or a phone call comes in, the book pauses, but you cannot unpause it once you have ended the call or the reading/replying of the text message has ended.

The workaround is to go back, in the app, and select another audiobook. Then go back again and select the book that you were originally listening to.

This is amazingly annoying and has me listening to podcasts more often in my drive, since they pause and restart without issue.

I am posting this to the audible website as well, but thought I would put it here and see if anyone has a root cause.

Hmm that's odd. I use Audible every single day and haven't spotted this behavior and I get tons of calls and texts.

Have you tried uninstalling it and then reinstalling it to see if its a weird one-off issue?
