Permissions

Hi guys,

I was just browsing for some games and I just accidentally saw the permissions list. I generally don't fiddle over such issues, but recently many apps or games require access to Dialer, Music+Video library, Photo Library etc.

It is understandable for certain apps like Rapdialer requiring access to Dialer or Listen/ Music download app requiring access to Music+video and Instagram/facebook for photos. And finally location for ad-supported content.

Why do some games require Dialer, Photos, Music+videos access? Isn't there a checkpoint when a developer submits an app manifest that checks for the permissions required?

This is really irking me, considering that apps/games can request whatever permissions they want.

Could you please explain this? (Why apps/games require more permissions than required?)
