I'm looking to understand what happens to photo metadata when a photo is sent via text. Does all the metadata get stripped from the photo when it's sent? I was trying to file some photos that were texted to me by date. It looks like the photo retains the date and time it was sent rather than when it was shot. The same photos also don't seem to have location info, camera info, etc. I'm assuming this has something to do with minimizing the file size for texted photos but wanted to make sure it's not something that I can fix. Also, does this vary by phone os and/or carrier?
