Should create an in house app studio ... There job will be to monitor what apps are the hottest and reach out to those developers to create WP version. If they decline the app studio will then create a third party version. Any thoughts?

I guess they are already doing that. For example, the Youtube app and the Facebook app are both developed by Microsoft if I'm not mistaken.

Not realistic. You can't do that without consent from those companies, and none will give that to MS. Except Facebook, for which that is already happening.

Microsoft has its arms tied as is by content holders holding their services hostage (an example would be the YouTube saga), so you can't really do that.

Microsoft has already thought of another strategy, though. It involves the unification of the Windows Store and the Windows Phone Store, as well as the XBOX One Store. Your guess is as good as mine when it comes to predicting what'll happen next.

release the windows phone 8 and 8.1 sdk for windows 7 since most developers are on windows 7 and don't want to switch to 8. That is all they need to do.

I think that something like a Android emulator it's the best way since the growth in China and USA, two markets that really matters, is too low for now.

Yeah, that's really stupid. And what about OS X? Works?

Yeah they should release the 8/8.1 sdk on OSX too since the apple developers are forced to use macs.

There's no evidence for it and i'm not a developer. I just say what I hear and read.

Alternative is by making it with different brands.
So instead of 2nd party apps (like Facebook... is there anything like "2nd party product" or "second world country" ?

They can use the publicly available API to make the unofficial version of apps that 3rd party developers could have made but didn't. Hopefully when seeing the users (monniez), 3rd party devs will be motivated to make their own and Microsoft can reallocate the resource to other apps.

There are at least two problems.
    1. Obviously services without public API is out of the question
    2. We've seen service owners selectively bullying developers (e.g: those 6tin article in WPCentral that has become a routine) and a Microsoft backed studio would be a big enough fish to target
