Didn't get an email with the link either, but was able to download it too. Looks pretty decent for a first beta imho. The first thing I tried was opera:config, and yay, it's working. :) Unfortunately many of the settings I loved are gone. It's rather basic now. Ah well..
Website loading is indeed very slow right now, but I think that's definitely being addressed soon. What I'm missing though is a way to change the default search enging (no f*cking way I'm gonna use Google!) and even more important a setting that can switch between desktop view and mobile view.

Thanks for sharing the link with us. Did you get an e-mail notification from Opera or you found it in the store by yourself ?
No notification, I believe they haven't sent it yet.

Well, here it is: Opera Mini browser - beta | Windows Phone Apps+Games Store (United States)

And it's not that good I'm afraid. All the buttons and stuff are so small, loading of web pages takes FOREVER and it's not that good looking. Opera Mini has never been my favorite, I like the regular Opera browser. The only thing this one does so much better than other browsers are the tabs. They are GREAT!

But it's a BETA..much can happen. If they fix the rendering and the slowness it might be usable. :)
Thanks for the link, and I agree. Its nothing special, but it is beta. I've never been a huge fan of Opera Mini, either. Wish we had Opera Mobile.

[1] Interface is very good, feels like using Opera :-)
    [2] No Website Preference!
[3] Downloaded files are stored in app, it appears. Tried to find the downloaded file through Files app in my SD card, but could not find it.

I am very satisfied with the browser - I must say. Its smoothness is like WP8.0.

Opera's rendering of the pages confuses me. Check for m.wpcentral.com in UC/IE and Opera mini. Apologies for not posting screenshots.

I used Storage Sense and moved it from SD card to the phone memory. Still it crashes on opening. I have tried it on both Wi-Fi and data connection but in vain.

I even un-installed and re-installed the app and still its not working. Sucks big time !

Instead of moving installed app to Phone storage, I would suggest to uninstall it first and then make a change in storage sense settings to store app in phone storage and then reinstall it. That may help!

Hi Guys, I recently posted a link to a work around I found in adding bing http://forums.windowscentral.com/wpc...ml#post2757105 as your default search engine which has been updated to my recent findings / experiences. In order to consolidate these, I'm going to double post here with some wording tweaks otherwise it wouldn't make sense:

According to Legoboyii (link below), you can add a search engine via a long press on the search bar - this was the first thing I tried and did not work for me also on various re installs (hence why you see the attached screenshots in guide linked above have no particular order :P). However I just re-installed again and confirm his method works, but appear to be suffering from stability issues as I cannot load any websites let alone reload bing.com. Furthermore the search engine now defaults to Google.com upon restarting the app. When i posted the guide I tested it via cold boot & soft reset yet the app loaded with Bing as the default search engine.

To compound matters another re-install has resulted in the app now crashing on first start up therefore cannot get past the T & C screen to accept. This is truly a unstable build...

Edit: Re-installed, did a cold boot, app still crashes, soft reset and app still crashes before loading the T & S after another re-install. This is looking more and more like an alpha / nightly build to me lol...

Very disappointed ... Since upgrading to 8.1, IE is rubbish on my phone, so Ive gone to UC Browser which isn't great, so I was hoping Opera Mini would be a better option ...

Unfortunately after installing, it wont even open & crashes out straight away. ... very disapointed

    It's a beta, not even 1.0 version.

Long pressing is how you're supposed to add search engines the normal way. :P
Here is the screenshot i posted on my quick guide about the render bug for bing.

I agree, I can't even get the silly app to load anymore.. instant crash on loading lol.

I'm surprised there are 43 reviews but there I can't see any reviews (currently rated at 3.1)... just get "No one has reviewed this yet", guess it is going to take time for the reviews to populate.

Guess it takes longer then a few hours for the reviews to populate?

Unless opera have a guy sitting in the corner deleting reviews the moment one is left .
