    I'm disappointed but not surprised that there don't seem to be any apps with this feature even though Android, iPhone and even Blackberry have these kinds of apps.

    What I'm talking about is an app that uses a NFC tag to shut off the alarm.

    Are you talking about turning off an external alarm using NFC on the phone?

    Yes. Scanning a QR code would be a good compromise but my understanding is that Microsoft in their infinite wisdom has determined that the alarm is a core component of the OS and no app can override the basic functionality, and that apps can't do it themselves because they can't run under the lock screen.
