I have not recieved microsoft verification email so how can i get games

Hi I recently got a nokia lumia 520 everything works fine its just that i can't get games. Everytime i try it says email verification needed or something along the lines of that. I have been advised to restore my phone to factory settings but i am scared i may lose my tariff as my phone is on contract. I couldnt get into my emails when it said the email had been sent i can now so how can i get another verification email or get games without the microsft account.-Thanks J
