Software update problem

My lumia 1020 is unable to check for updates, although the system is still lumia black, and there should be an update to cyan. But, whenever I try to check for updates the update status would be: We are currently unable to check for updates. (80072ee2)
I really need help, most apps aren't working properly and others can't be installed due to the need of a software update.

How many times have you tried? Maybe it's just a coincidence that checking for updates wasn't available. Also, is your date and time correct? Because that can also mess with your phone.

Oh and are you on the dev preview?

I don't know, I didn't count. Date and time are correct. And what's the dev preview?? Thanks anyway.
