I just bought a new Lumia 929 this weekend. When I got it, it needed to be charged. So I take it to my 2010 Town and Country and plug it in to the USB in the radio using the cable that came with the phone, radio and van were both on and running. The phone would not charge. I then put the cable into the cigarette lighter plug and tried that, again same cable, still wouldn't charge. The only way it charged was for me to turn the inverter on and plug in the wall charger with the same cable. But this charger is in the back and won't allow me access to my phone for Pandora while driving. I know the USB and the cig plug work as I had just had my iPhone plugged in to the USB and my boyfriend's iPhone was in the cig plug. Still I double checked them and they worked. I've looked through the settings and can't seem to locate a place for me to make the phone charge through the USB. Right now I've got it plugged into the laptop at work and it's charging.

How many amps is the cig plug? If it is only 1.0, it might not be enough to power your phone. The iPhone might use slightly less power.

The fuse for the charger is a 20 amp. Not sure if that's the amps for the plug charger.

No, that wouldn't be it. The thing is that Nokia usually supplies 1.2 amp chargers and you can usually use a 2.0 or 2.1 amp although those are more designed for tablets. I believe iPhone chargers are only 1 amp so I was thinking maybe it isn't supplying enough power for your phone.
When you say 929, are you referring to Icon or do you have a 928 or 930? Not that it should matter as far as charger is concerned but just curious.

The USB connection in the Town and Country does not put out enough power, milliamps, to charge the phone. Seen this before from other users with the Town and Country.
You will have to get a cigarette lighter charger. The Nokia car charger puts out 1 amp, the wall charger puts out 1.2 amps.
The 550 milliamp chargers will not work.

I had dried the cigarette lighter charger. The only thing that would work was the 110 in the back seat.

Have you checked the output spec of your cigarette lighter charger? As already pointed out it may not be delivering enough juice.
