I've searched all over on Bing and can't find anything to help. Is there a way I can play locally stored music on my Windows Phone with the 8.1 update to my xbox one? I know on my Surface RT I can but I cant seem to figure it out on my phone. Maybe you cant? Any help would be welcome!

I'd like to discover it too. It's terrible see all my music downloaded going to music backstop. How can Nokia/Microsoft think that it is good???

I'm almost certain Windows Phone uses MTP (Media Transfer Protocol) to connect to USB, which is different to USB mass storage like hard drives and flash drives.

Media Transfer Protocol - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

But i think it means the Xbox One doesn't know what to do with it.

(and what do you mean by "going to music backstop")
