Lumia 822 Calandar Launch Problem

My Nokia Lumia 822 (Black update) Calendar app will not launch correctly. When I select the tile the calendar opens for about 1/2 second then goes back to the tile or it does not open at all - just goes back to the tile immediately. The Calendar app is the only one on my phone that does this -everything else is fine. I have tried a soft reset, and battery removal and reinstall without luck. Contacted Verizon Tech Support - no help; they said to do a hard reset. I am trying to avoid this. Any suggestions?
