Why is my Mircosoft Surface Tablet frozen?

mircosoft surface tablet is frozen

The screen is still lit up with last google search, but can not get anything to move and it will not even shut off

Have you tried holding both the power key and volume rocker.

I'm pretty sure the soft reset sequence is hold down the power button for 20 seconds, release and then tap the power button. Seems to do the trick when my rt wont wake up sometimes...

All pcs, hold power for 10 seconds to force power off (or just hold till power off). This is set in the hardware. Wait a few seconds one short press to turn on.
