I want to transfer all my picture files off my phone and onto a flash drive or at least to my PC.

Use your USB cable to connect to your computer. Download and install the Windows phone application. Auto backup starts.

    Method 2:
Do the downloading. Then open file explorer. Click your phone name. Your folders will show up, so you can easily transfer.

I don't even use the app. You should be ale to just connect your phone to your PC with a USB cable. Open file explorer on the PC and you should see your phone. Double click and navigate through the file directory to your phone's photo folder and then copy or drag the photos wherever you want.

Make sure your phone is unlocked otherwise you can't access it using the file explorer.
