It wud hv been great if the Microsoft had kept the Nokia name. I don't want the whole 'Microsoft Lumia' on my phone & I love the name Nokia on my phone with its simple style of font. Can I even hope from Microsoft to bring back the Nokia name?

Go and buy a label maker and you can stick the name Nokia on anything you want.

Nokia is still a company, they let MS use the Nokia name for a short time after MS bought the ex Nokia phone division, MS cannot use the name any more.

Time to go with the flow or go elsewhere.

MSFT never purchased Nokia, they have a license for the name, and it runs out in 2016, I believe.

MSFT have to go with their own name. The Lumia phones, going forward, won't be nokia so it's bonkers to call them that. And for the rest, well what the chap said above. You can still buy Nokia phones but you won't have wp on them, going forward.

Why then going with long name, they might have made it simple. Just the name 'Microsoft' could also make waves. Isn't?

I'm glad its changing, it will be good to start fresh and distance the Lumia brand from the failing Nokia brand. Nokia holds about as much brand equity nowadays as BlackBerry.
