Trying to connect Nokia Lumia 530 to my Windows 8.1 desktop

Have managed to connect this via a micro cable to my Laptop running Windows 8.0 Have tried unsuccessfully to connect to desktop running Windows 8.1 Says connection incompatible. It shows up in Devices the 4 times I tried on different ports - with yellow ! Tried to update driver - says none available.
It did not come with Nokia USB cable so using micro cable.
Thats when I tried connecting to Laptop and no problems.
On my desktop I have tried ports at back of CPU.
If the cable works on laptop surely it would work on desktop?
Downloaded the nokia suite and still the same problem.
Would appreciate your help. Thanks so much.

Nokia Suite might not be of any help for 530.
Also if it shows the devices 4 times there, it has driver issues with your desktop. Make sure desktop has latest updates installed on it.

Use USBdeview. Delete any / all USB drivers marked Nokia, Windows Phone, etc. View any installed/connected USB device on your system

Do not use a USB hub. 2.0 USB port only, not 3.0. I wish you had a factory cable, but oh well...

After clearing out the useless drivers, plug back in and let drivers install again.

I agree with ssapre, Nokia Suite does you no good. It's for legacy devices and desktop OSs... Get Windows Phone App for Windows Desktop if your PC is on Windows 8.0 or higher. Windows Phone app for desktop | Windows Phone (United States)
