    It's dependent on what country you live in for laws regarding unlocks from carriers. If a carrier told you 12 months wait, then that's their answer and they are (most likely) within the law in that timeframe.

    You could try a third party unlock service. I've never used one. The reputation varies by company and model needing the unlock. Do a web search for "unlock lumia 735" and check some user reviews. You may also want to look at the 735 forum here: Nokia Lumia 730 & 735 - Windows Central Forums

    It depends, as stated, on the country you live in and your network provider.

    In the UK, Three supplies handsets unlocked. Other networks tend to lock their phones but will unlock them sooner than 12 months if you are on a contract. It's really up to the network.

    There are some unlockers on eBay, and the cost of an unlock seems to depend on with network your phone is locked to.

    I find that if your in the UK the best place to get your phone unlocked are in the shops that repairs phones (usually in newsagents) I got so many unlocked for around 5 in the past
