I wanted to purchase a pair of AT&T Nokia 635 phones to give to my parents in law that live in Crimea, Russia. The carrier they are going to be with is MTS. I am wondering if they are going to be able to use the phone there? Using data is not my biggest concern, I am worried about them being able to call and text.

    Any info would be appreciated.

    Thank you ahead of time.

You would need to have the device unlocked. If it is locked to AT&T, it will not work with MTS SIM.

After an Unlock from AT&T... Looks like a go.

Check the radio here: Nokia Lumia 635 specs

The GSM and UMTS frequencies for MTS match up: Mobile country code - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

And MTS LTE bands are also a match: List of LTE networks - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia They might loose LTE when visiting Moscow, but otherwise just unlock and ship.
