Re: why nokia company switched five reason

Only one, Microsoft bought Nokia!
Nokia would come back again as soon as the contract with Microsoft gets over, probably in 2016.

Nokia still exists. It simply sold the mobile phone division to Microsoft. It did not shut down.

In fact, their brand is being used in an upcoming tablet, and they are behind HERE maps still.

Re: why nokia company switched five reason

Nokia, the Finnish firm, is still in business and doing well. The phone division was sold to Microsoft. Why...?

1. Nokia failed to keep up with mobile trends.
2. Other manufacturers made phone that people wanted; Nokia didn't.
3. The mobile arm wasn't making money.
4. MS made a good offer for the mobile business and the rights to use Nokia trademarks.
5. MS made everyone in the Nokia division redundant.

Based on an earlier thread that asked a similar question and stated "education purpose" as the reason behind the question - I'd say you just helped someone do their homework assignment.

We are now a bona-fida research center!!!

Re: why nokia company switched five reason

Nokia could keep up with the trends and couldn't innovate anymore. It had become too stiff with poor management (mr Kallasmaa, mr. Ollila and others)

The main thing that made them DUMP the mobile division to Microsoft's hands, was the fact that it was too big to probably ever make any money again... Why? The mobile space has changed, cheap brands from China are pushing to all markets and without own OS, there probably wouldn't be any future for it.

Nokia's board (mr Siilasmaa and others) played their cards well considering the situation back in 2011, when the game was already lost. They did something that ended up Microsoft being forced to buy the heavy loss making unit with very bad conditions for them.

Nokia kept basically everything with value name, patents, NSN, R&D and Here.

Nokia is now pursuing new strategy, the tablet is only the first device with Nokia branding, more will come. Because of the R&D, we will also see something unique later. Phones most likely too.
