Why isn't my ATIV turning on and how do I save my data?

Urgent Help with ATIV

Hi, I'm having major issues with my Samsung Ativ GT-I8750. A friend of mine tried to do some updates on it yesterday and now the phones' not working. I forgot to take shut off theWiFi before leaving the house yesterda while the updates was happening and I left the service aera. So while I was out, I noticed the phone shut down and wouldnt restart. I've taken out the batteries several times to let it sit but still nothing. The funny thing is it's powering on but thats it. There's literally nothing else happing wiht it. I'm afraid to loose all my important info. Can anyone help

Soft reset- SR maybe. I think taking out battery isn't SR (or it is?). Or hard reset, but you'll lose your stuff then
