I was able to download the update but I can't open it, why (800710fe)?

[Windows Central Question]

THe update was downloaded,but couldn't be opened.(800710fe)

I happily downloaded it but after waiting for almost an hour for it to finish download and install, it gave me the following error message. I tried check for update again, took me another hour, got the same error. I restarted my phone, tried downloading again and still the same error. Could space on device be a problem? I have about 1 GB left.

I have no idea what device you have...

I assume it is a Windows Phone of some sort... (edit, I looked back and you do write phone at one point - I guess it runs WP.)

Yes this would be an out of memory error.

• Run a backup on your phone, just in case
• If you have an SD card, unmount it, power down and remove it
• Delete media and/or Apps and try to free up more space on the phone
• Attempt update again

Consider upgrading to a higher capacity SD card if your phone has a slot. Under 8.1 you can install Apps to the card, but I prefer not to for performance reasons. I keep pictures and removable media only on my card... Then again, I am not an App junkie.
