Difference between a Surface and a Surface Pro 2?

The Surface has an ARM processor and better battery life but the OS is Windows RT which means it cannot run x86 based 32 bit and 64 bit desktop applications (the ones you run on any Windows laptop or desktop). Only real exception is the fact Microsoft has ported Office 2013 Home and Student to run on ARM processors. Surface Pro 2 has an Intel processor and runs the full catalog of 32 bit and 64 bit Windows applications. It has, however, also been discontinued and has been replaced by Surface Pro 3.
