Why does touching my lockscreen prompt me to switch off my Lumia 720?

Touching lockscreen prompts for switch off lumia 720

Usually, the hardware button for lockscreen works as, one-touch locks the screen and long press of the same prompts for power off with a comfirmation question. Sliding down will power off then.

Now my Lumia 720 prompts for power off while locking or unnlocking the screen everytime.
i need to slide upwards to this confirmation question and then it locks/unlocks the phone.

Sounds like a defective button to me. But before filing a warranty case, you might want to perform a soft reset and see if that resolves your issue. If this doesn't help, I'd even try and perform a hard reset.

Have the same exact problem with 720. Tried hard reset, recover using Lumia Recovery Tool but no help. I can't shut down the device anymore (only restart). Did hard reset fix it for you?

I have the exact same issue. I dnt think its a hardware related issue. Please update if u find a solution
