How can I get my battery to stop draining?

So my phone charges normally just fine, but after I added the update my phone will lose charge when I'm Skyping my boyfriend even though it is plugged in. I used to plug in my phone when Skyping my boyfriend so my battery wouldn't die. Now when I Skype him, my battery is slowly draining even though it says it is charging. My phone will go to 0% and turn off. I really want to fix this, because sometimes I have to Skype him and for long hours. Thank you for your help.

Any phone after an update will chew through battery like a hog because it's optimising itself in the background and running one-time scripts (I dunno it's a theory) but usually I find a week or two after updating my phone the battery life springs back to normal - in this case your phone should drain less quickly.

If it's been a while since you updated and it is still draining on a charger, try soft resetting (holding volume down + power) until your phone reboots.

Yes. I updated it on Christmas, and I've only noticed it while using Skype.
