Why is my phone doing things on its own

When am talking over phone its dials to other person in the call list and the live call goes on hold.. and it send messages in whatsup without me using the phone.. am worried what could be the problem?? Any suggestions

Does the screen go black when you hold it up to your face? Could be the proximity sensor not functioning and your facing pressing buttons during a call.
