Pretty straightforward but I record alot of videos outside at night, not being able to use the flash for illumination. Is there a solid way to optimize visibility in these low light situations in the settings?

Why can't you use the flash for illumination? I know the led flash doesn't cast light very far outdoors at night, but it should offer some lighting. The only other thing you can really do with just the phone is experiment with different white balance settings I suppose.

If you're serious about outdoor filming at night, have you considered a secondary lighting source?

I was hoping to use my phone, but it may be better to invest in a video camera. I record alot of in-vehicle races where using the light would be detrimental and relatively useless anyways. I wish there was a paid app or something for low light video recording. Thanks for the tips!

You may want to look at a dedicated action type camera like a GoPro. GoPro Official Website - Capture + share your world
