Windows 10, seems like W10 is a given.

But what to do with Windows 10 for Phone?

Do we think W10p covers it?

I don't like the idea of subbing in the X, as that is a Mac convention at this point.

    Thoughts?

W10M, I was of the understanding that it was officially going to be called Windows 10 Mobile.

    What wrong with Windows 10?

Since MS is putting so much effort on having Windows as a brand for all devices, let's don't cross their plans as a community.

I do see the need to differentiate between Windows 10 (on a laptop) and Windows 10 (on a smartphone). On the forum, people will come in with questions, and people often used W8 and WP8 to compare and contrast Windows and Windows Phone.

So far, I've been using WP10, even though I know that's not the "real" name.

Why don't we just use the name Microsoft gave it?! Lol

    Windows 10 Phone ==> Windows (10=X) (Phone=P) ==> Windows XP

I think the official name is Windows 10 for Phones and Small Tablets. At least that is what JoeB called it during the demo. W10PST? Since it's a Technical Preview, W10PSTTP.

Dangit, every abbreviation I can come up is more difficult than just calling it what it is, WP10.

W10p / W10P should do it. Also we only need this abreviation just in cases where it could be confused with desktop version. otherwhise W10 is just fine.

I've been abbreviating it to W10M for about half a year now. IMHO its one of few options that makes sense. This is why:
    a)
It won't be long until this mobile SKU of the W10 OS (that's how MS wants us to think about it) will also be powering Windows tablets (like the Surface Mini). It makes no sense to call it a "phone" OS, when some of the devices this OS powers can't even make phone calls. This OS is for any smallish battery powered mobile device. That's why MS had to divorce itself from the phone specific name in the first place! It makes no sense to go against that.
    b)
At WCentral we currently have a forum called "Windows 10 for Phones", but that is a stop gap measure. It works for now because this SKU is not yet available on anything but phones, but this will change at some point. Joe Belfiore called it "Windows 10 for phones and small tablets". That's what it actually is. It's just too long for practical use, but dropping the ending makes it incorrect.
    c)
What remains of Nokia goes by the name of Microsoft Mobile, and the team at MS that develops this OS is the Mobile OS team... Mobile!... hint! hint!

I think "Windows 10 for small mobile devices" is an accurate description. It's also easily shortened to W10M. It's what I'll be using.

In general any tablet with a display diagonal of 7" or smaller, with or without phone capabilities. Expect a few larger exceptions to that rule.
