Calendar shifts appointments

My calendar keeps shifting appointments by three hours. The last time I checked my time zone it was set to Universal Time, and I changed that to Eastern, but now its shifted again.

Go to settings >> date+time, and make sure Set time zone automatically is switched off, and then set the time zone manually.

Only thing is I'll have to set daylight savings time manually.

Daylight savings time should be independent of the timezone setting.
I'm GMT, and when we pop over to BST (GMT+1) it's done automatically, and I have manually set my timezone (because my carrier doesn't have a time signal, so have to use NTP)...
