How to add area code to number?

How do you add the area code to phone numbers in the people hub? I can't find the option to do it?
On the iPhone if you put in a number lets say, 205 123-4567? It corrects it to (205) 123-4567. With windows phone it doesn't do this at all. It doesn't ad the "()" to my numbers and I have to copy and paste the "()" for the area codes.

I am not sure why you want the ( ).
Your phone does not need them. You just can put in the number and make a call.

Don't add manually the brackets to your number! Probably you will not be able to call this number anymore if you do so!
Leave it 205 123-4567, you don't pay more if the area code is in the phone number

Phones should ignore any symbols bar # , * and I believe .
So brackets aren't required, but I suppose it's shown on screen for user viewability...
