Why doesn't multitasking work with all of my apps?

Windows Central Question

I've been playing around with the split screen app multitasking thing and it is really cool but it only seems to work with the apps the sp3 came with like maps, onenote, email, etc. When I try to split screen stuff I've downloaded like firefox, photoshop, spotify, etc. it just opens everything on one side piled up in what looks like my desktop. Did is save these apps to the wrong location to be able to use them for multitasking? I'm a graphic design student and am currently doing a web design class that I would love to be able to use the split screen function to have my online text book on one side open in firefox and on the other side have notepad++ to do my coding for the tutorials/assignments. Anyone else have this issue? Thanks for the help.

I hadn't thought about this. Just figured that the ability would be there :/ It might be that the individual devs of those apps have to enable it? I dont have a sp, so I'm not an expert lol

Split thing works only with apps downloaded from store i.e Modern/Metro apps.
Since Firefox is an .exe app, it can't be snapped.
The only decent browser which can be snapped is IE unfortunately.
