Does anyone know how I could disassemble a Microsoft Sculpt Ergonomic Mouse?
My Microsoft Sculpt Ergonomic Mouse's scroll wheel has been acting weird lately. I have a feeling it is now full of cat fur and I wish to clean it but I can't figure out how to open this rodent! Couldn't find any teardown videos or tutorials of it. I couldn't find any screws, at least not anywhere easily accessible. The stickers showing the battery directions - which was the most likeliest place for screws - didn't have any. I'm a little afraid of pulling the rubber covers off the mouse if there's nothing under it anyway. Maybe someone can point me to the right direction?

It's been a long time since I posted above but I guess I should say how I was able to do it! The removable part of the mouse is the top cover (which includes the left and right button areas). It can be easily removed by wedging a spudger under the right mouse button area and going around until the whole top snaps off. There will be a few torx screws that need to be removed for the inner frame and you'll have access to its innards when that is removed. I could post pictures if anyone is interested to see.

Please, publish pictures! I need to disassemble mine too, because by some weird cause the batteries (Energizer Max) got their liquids all out, and now I need to clean it  It Works if I put new batteries, but it drains them very quicky (I suppose because the liquid is very conductive)

I apologize for not being able to post pictures as I've been too busy to visit the forums lately! Fortunately, Witsarut was kind enough to post his own!
Re: Does anyone know how I could disassemble a Microsoft Sculpt Ergonomic Mouse?
Thank you very much to both of you!.
My mouse is acting weird and I believe is because the windows button and the Back button are broken. I want to disassemble it to see if I can do something and this will help

I have same problem, I dont know how to detach part with Win button. I remove two screws but it sits very hard. Any ideas?

Just cut that black and red wire - it all will be set without disassembling those complex modules around buttons :)
Re: Does anyone know how I could disassemble a Microsoft Sculpt Ergonomic Mouse?
Is there no guide for how to do this on sites such as iFixit?

Had stuck back button (underneath the Win button). Tried loosening the two screws a little - fine, however back button immediately stuck again when tightened even a very slight amount. Didn't want those screws to just fall inside the mouse. Decided to risk your advice and cut the black and red wire. Worked perfectly! My PC now sleeps again without the stuck-on back button waking it up. Thanks Saeglopur89!

I would still recommend looking on sites like ifixit for a guide.
