Why does my incoming call display go off too quickly?

My incoming call display goes off too quickly

When I receive a call a few seconds later the screen goes blank. In order to end the
call I have to re-activate it before pressing 'end call' which is quite tedious. Is there a quicker way or a setting that prolongs the on screen display ?

Is it possible that you use a screen protector which blocks your proximity sensor because this could be the reason your screen goes "black", or a flip case where the closing lip covers the proximity sensor, or your screen is dirty?
