Are you referring to any Wi-Fi connection in general or a specific Wi-Fi router? If it was a specific router, were other devices able to connect to it?
If it was any Wi-Fi connection in general, then it most probably is an issue with that Lumia 928. At that point, it would "make sense" to have it checked in a service center for possible repair. However, whether purchasing a new device now makes sense or not will be subjective since the announcement of a new batch of Lumia phones may be coming (soon? in a few months? not sure, but it could be coming). Other threads have been created on "Should I buy a [insert Lumia phone here] now" theme - it would be "wise" to go over those threads first before making a decision.
