Can I safely install Windows 10?

I don't know if there are any issues and I don't want to break my only device. So if something goes wrong, I loose everything please tell me if its super stable. And please tell me where and how to download it. So I don't want anything going wrong.

4G ram
Windows 8

Windows 10 Final is almost released (just wait 10 days). I suggest installing the final version. However, final release or not: it cannot be pointed out enough: backup your data! In 99.9% of all cases, installing an update of your OS will preserve your data. But there is this 0.1% in which something will happen during install and could cause that your data is gone forever.
Please do yourself a favor and store your precious data to an external HD, on a USB stick, save it in the cloud, burn a DVD etc.
