Windows Central Question

Not too long ago, I got a new XPS 8700 with Windows 8 installed. Whenever the computer went to sleep after I had been gone from it for a while, all the icons on the desktop were no longer visible and any open windows that I had (such as Firefox) showed up in the tray, however, they could not actually open. Even opening new windows, like Command Prompt or Task Manager, would not actually be open. The only way to solve this was to restart my computer, sometimes manually.

Since upgrading to Windows 10, I still have this problem. I spent about two hours talking to Dell about this, but the solution they gave me didn't work. Please help :(
