Why can't I change my background pictures on my 640?

640 issues

I have had my 640 for 4 days and suddenly I cannot change my background pictures or accent colour tiles. I can make a selection from the start+theme menu, but nothing happens. It worked perfectly previously. The start screen just stays black and white... My first 640 was replaced after 5 weeks as it just went 'dead' and couldn't be fixed. I want to like my phone, but the 640 appears to be unreliable. The phone store is offering me a refund, so I am considering going back to android rather than trying a third phone.

You say your start screen is black and white, maybe you have the high contrast mode on. It negates the start background as well as lockscreen picture and shows your display in black and white primarily. Find it in (settings > accessibility/ease of access > High Contrast).

I think I must have adjusted that setting when I got stuck in narrator.

I am very grateful. Now I can enjoy my phone:angel:
