Internet Explorer Home Page Opens When You Click a Link That Is Pasted into an E-mail Message.
The only help I can find is this but it refers to windows ME

Does anyone know how to apply this remedy in windows 10 as I cannot find file type, advanced, edit?

    SYMPTOMS
When you open a hypertext link that has been pasted into an e-mail message, the Internet Explorer Home page is opened instead of the Web page that is connected to the link that you clicked.

    CAUSE
This issue occurs because the URL:HyperText Transfer Protocol file type has an incorrect value in the Topic box for the Open function.

    RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue in Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition (Me):1.Double-click My Computer, and then click Folder Options on the Tools menu.
2.Click the File Types tab, click URL:HyperText Transfer Protocol in the Registered file types list, and then click Advanced.
    3. Click Open in the Action box, and then click Edit.
4.In the Topic box, type WWW_OpenUrl.
5.Click OK twice, and then click Close.
