The case is slightly ambiguous - if your phone does not turn on, then how would it tell you that the SD Card was removed?

Also, did you remove the SD Card while the phone was still turned on without ejecting it? - this is highly not recommended; rather, turn the phone off first before removing the SD Card, or at least eject it first.
