Windows Central Question

I am about to back-up my data for the first time.

I hope I have grasped the basic of the Back-Up process, however I need to switch on my "file history" as it is currently off and I am struggling to find a way of doing this? I am on Window's 10, I don't use Window's Defender as I am covered with other external products. Can anyone help/suggest what I should do?

Other: I have been given a External Storage Device, is this going to help me in anyway?

Many thanks, Lynn.

Hi,

Just plug in the external storage device, open settings > Update & Security > backup > you should see a "Automatically backup my files" switch change that to on. You can configure more of the backup settings by then selecting more options which also gives you the choice of using an external storage device.
