    hi I'm interested in getting the sp4 and just wanted to now somethings about i would be using it mostly for uni for writing and things. is it worth getting?

    Most degree programs have a minimum spec requirement they either suggest or mandate (technical courses will mandate hardware minimums) and you should check with your department.

    That said, I think the Surface Pro line is outstanding kit. I'm sure their is a configuration that will meet your needs and even exceed them. It is a very powerful device line. Going past the required spec is fine. Gives you room to grow.

    One drawback might be storage. Be prepared to leverage the cloud and use external storage devices (think low power need external HDD).

    If I were entering University today, Surface Pro would get a hard look as must have equipment.

    It'll do those things.

    Also worth considering is other pen-enabled convertibles like the ThinkPad Yoga, Dell Venue 11 Pro, the Surface 3, etc.

    The Surface Pro is a fine piece of PC, but its lack of repairability and not being a laptop first gives me pause. (relatively pricey too)
