Windows 10 has updated and is stuck at 71%

Windows Central Question

Windows 10 has updated and is stuck at 71%. I am unable to change any settings as it will not recognise my password. I have turned off the laptop, removed the battery etc, however it still goes back to the update. I am fuming as I was not expecting this today. I just hope I don't lose any files! What can I do next?
