How do I reinstall a native app on windows 10 mobile?

Yesterday, I updated my Lumia 720 to windows mobile 10. In the beginning, the messaging app was working properly. However, since the app updated itself, I cannot open the app anymore, so I cannot read/send sms messages anymore. When I try to open the app, my screen just becomes black.

Is there a way to reinstall the app? Maybe this way I can solve this problem.

Try uninstall it, soft reset, it should reappear in store downloads, if not, push check for updates in store downloads. But a lot of people reporting problems with Message App in current OS version.

How do I uninstall a native windows phone 10 app? I can uninstall apps which I downloaded myself, but I do not know how to do this for native apps.

Have you checked in "app store" ? Maybe your message app have an upgrade waiting. I had after update to wp 10 , actually I had a bunch of upgrades there

Yes, there are no updates pending. It is actually since the latest update of the message app that it became unusable.
