Lumia 640 in Japan + maps

Hi, sorry my english

I buy a lumia 640 for thus xmas, and now im in Japan

I get a big surprise the maps are not abailable. I installed gmaps+ but need a permanent connections

In google maps i can cache the maps for offline use, any ideas if this is possible with any app on my lumia?

I just need to buy a android phone in a hurry because of this

Hello, i just register to say Im having same problem, stuck with android phone un japan, because no maps, and gmaps+ haw no offline mode

Any ideas to solve this will be great, since is a shame a real nice device like the lumia 640, became a paperweight in Japan

Pretty sure some legal thing means no offline maps of Japan and Korea for outside companies or something like that.

I think its been long since band-aided over, but not on Windows Phone I guess.

Nokia also had no Japan presence I think.

From a customer point of view, i dont care about technical stuff... but only one thing, if u can use the maps or no, like i can do in a android phone

I buy a lumia because i feel i wanna try windows phone, but if im forced to use a android phoneb(or ios) in some country, better to just drop the lumia

But still im looking for a solution. I tried every option from store, gmaps, maps, etc, and every option is far behind official google maps, that i use for my work
